Mark Marburger Obituary

Mark Elroy Marburger, 60, of Brenham, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Born December 1, 1964, in Brenham to Marvin and Joyce Marburger, his roots ran deep in the community he always called home. On July 20, 1985, he married the love of his life, Shanan, and for 40 years they shared a marriage full of faith, laughter, and family.

Mark was a butcher by trade and the proud owner of Dan's Meat Market. Known for his hard work, big heart, and easygoing spirit, he never met a stranger. He loved watching his boys play baseball and show cattle, hunting and fishing, a cold whiskey and Coke, and dancing with Shanan at weddings. More than anything, he loved God and the family he and Shanan raised together.

He is survived by his wife, Shanan; sons and daughters-in-law, Mason and Katlyn Marburger, and Grayson and Katie Marburger; grandchildren, Elodie, Winna, Merritt, Vyla, Heidi, and Jessa; mother, Joyce Marburger; siblings and spouses, Gary and Rocksann Marburger, and Beth and Jerry Kunkel; mother-in-law, Evelyn Strangmeyer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Stacy and Rocky Ullrich; nephews and niece, Clinton Marburger, Cody Kunkel, Payton Ullrich, and Reanna and husband David Arvidson; as well as a large extended family and countless friends who were family to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Marburger; father-in-law, Edward Strangmeyer; grandparents, Wollie and Alma Marburger, Louie and Lizzie Ganske; and grandparents-in-law, Edward and Minnie Strangmeyer, and Eddie and Minnie Albers.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 7, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Funeral services will be Monday, September 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, 6605 Old Independence Rd, Brenham, TX with lunch to follow.

Honorary Pallbearers: Marty Schulz, Mike Schulte, Jr. Tappe, David Warner, Marty Spivey, Alan Winkelmann, and Ronnie Hohlt.
