Madawaska - Mark Euclide Marquis, 62, passed away on November 23, 2025, at Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor Maine, after a sudden medical event.
Mark was born in Fort Kent, Maine on August 3, 1963, son of the late Euclide Marquis and Cora Marquis (Dupre). After graduating from Madawaska High School, Mark went on to study Nuclear Medicine Management at Quinnipiac University. Over his career Mark worked in diagnostic imaging as a nuclear medicine technologist and department manager, then shifted his talents to property management with various companies in southern Maine, and eventually patient care in health services in Madawaska.
Mark was predeceased by his parents and his very special aunt and uncle Claudette and Don Guerrette. Mark is survived by his life partner Brian S Young, sister Carol Marquis, brother Vaughn Marquis, niece Carrie Lagasse (James) and their son Dempsey of Madawaska and niece Mindy Dubay (Randy) and their daughters Kinley and Kaisley of Gorham. And his many cousins far and wide from Texas to Greece, to Quebec and of course Madawaska – he loved you all!
In 2016 Mark met his life partner Brian Young and they eventually adopted Mark's sidekick Oreo. They created a wonderful life together creating a home, traveling, and enjoying the festivities and community in Ogunquit, Maine. Eventually they settled in Mark's hometown to be close to Mark's family, Mark loved the strong sense of family and community Madawaska provided.
Mark had a zest for life and was passionate about his family and friends. His aunts, sister and brother and nieces were so very dear to him. Mark would beam as he told stories of his escapades in Arizona with Maddy Carroll, in Las Vegas with his cousin and dear friend Jackie Label, and the many cruises and trips that included Cindy Castaline, Ester Johnson, sister Carol Marquis and of course his dear partner Brian Young. And the special casino days with Aunt Murielle Dupere Roy. There are so many stories that include the people Mark held dear – know that he always burst with joy as he told of his many escapades with of each you and how you made Mark's life happy and fulfilled.
As friends and family reflect on their connection to Mark there is a consistent theme. He was present, accepting, a listener, compassionate, supportive, intelligent, funny and many times the life of the party. His dear friend Thomas Pierga a friend for over 35 years, speaks of their times together, their conversations and Mark's passion for everything he did and his relationships and friendships. Tom creates the perfect image as Mark joined the many that went before him – Mark being welcomed with open arms and dancing his way looking for a disco ball and a martini – Mark save a dance for us all. Mark was bigger than life and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to meet him and call him friend, brother, uncle or lover. Gods speed Markie, Marko, Uncle Mark – we love you!
There will be a celebration of Mark's life in Madawaska, a true party representative of Mark, the exact date has yet to be determined. As well as a celebration in Mark's happy place Ogunquit on a date to be determined.
We would like to thank the compassionate and very competent doctors and nurses at Northern Maine Medical Center, and Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center ICU for their compassion, competence and support as we traversed the many decisions during Mark's final days.
