Mark McAndrew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cornelison Funeral Home - Pocatello on Jan. 15, 2026.
Mark William McAndrew, 65, passed away peacefully at his residence in Pocatello, Idaho, on December 29, 2025.

Mark was born on July 7, 1960, in New York City, New York, to Peggy Rudd McAndrew and the late James "Jim" McAndrew. He graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in Swoope, Virginia, in 1978 and proudly served in the U.S. military for 13 years. Mark once said, "I've always thought that I was a good Marine, and that's all I ever needed to be in this life."

Mark was a true outdoorsman who relished the challenge and adventure of camping in extreme conditions. He especially loved his time in Alaska, a place that forever held a piece of his heart. He was an armchair political pundit, a voracious reader, and a lifelong learner who never shied away from a good debate. He used his encyclopedic knowledge to conquer countless trivia competitors and fell just short of making it to Jeopardy!

Mark is survived by his mother, Peggy Rudd McAndrew of Wake Forest, NC; sisters, Carrol (Davy) Dillon, Laura (Peter) Custis, Susan (Ruben Garcia) McAndrew, and Nancy (George) Meredith; brother, Kevin M. McAndrew; aunt, Jacqueline F. Rudd; nieces, Nadine McAndrew Custis, Jennie A. McAndrew, and Amy Dillon Shelton; nephews, Brian Dillon, Eric Dillon, and Nicholas Custis; four great nieces, and one great nephew. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Jim, and his stepdaughter, Evanne Makennah Coffman.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brady and Mercedes Robertson, Heather Liljenquidt, James Panzanaro, and Teresa Bowlin, of the Portneuf Valley Lodge, where Mark was living. We will be forever grateful for the friendship and the kindness you showed him.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com

Mark and I were friends on Facebook. We go back a long time. Oh, the good ol' days. Mark and I solved the problems of the world when we talked. He was right well with all that was going on. He and I talked of our military experiences. We both had some good stories.
To his family, I am sorry for your loss. Mark had a good heart. Rest well Mark, rest well.
