He delighted in his role as a father, instilling in his children the values of hard work, compassion, and the importance of family. Mark's joy multiplied with the arrival of six grandchildren: Owen, Nolan, Victoria, Carter, James, and Madelyn. He cherished every moment spent with them, from reading stories and playing games to imparting wisdom and sharing in their milestones. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs, as a grandfather who was always there with a warm hug and an encouraging word and often a cookie or a lollipop.
He is also survived by his cherished sister, Shiela Hanson and brother-in-law, Pete, older brother, John McKevitt, and sister-in-law, Sallie McKevitt, widow of Brian .
He enjoyed deer hunting in Pennsylvania at the farm of dear friends, duck hunting on the eastern shore with his brother-in-law, and attending Nationals games with his lifelong buddy, Don.
Even as Parkinson's Disease presented its challenges, he faced them with courage and a positive outlook that inspired all who knew him. His strength and dignity in the face of adversity were a testament to his character.
Mark's legacy is not only etched in the hearts of his loved ones and dear friends, but also in the countless lives he touched. He was a man who led by example, always helping whomever and however he could, showing that a life well-lived is one filled with purpose, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of others.
