Robert Richardson Obituary

We celebrate the life and legacy of Robert Hugh Richardson, known affectionately as Bob, a man whose life was a testament to his unwavering faith, boundless love, and fervent passion. Born on the 30th of October 1933, in Olney, Maryland, Bob was a beacon of light to all who knew him until his peaceful passing on the 14th of March 2026, in Catonsville, Maryland.

Bob's journey was marked by his devout Christian faith, which guided every step he took and every decision he made. As a loving husband to his late wife, Betty Richardson, he exemplified what it meant to love unconditionally. Together they raised two remarkable children, Cathryn McDonnell and Robert Richardson, instilling in them the values of compassion, integrity, and the importance of family. He was excellent role model for Cathyrn (spouse, David) and Robert (spouse, Laura) as to what it means to raise a family in a loving and Christian way. As he grew older his grandchildren; Tara (spouse, Billy), Jason, Holly and Rob and great grandchildren; Alya, Bodhi, Roman and Lilith were the light of his life. Bob's role as a father, grandfather "Pop" and great grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and the lessons he imparted have left an indelible mark on his children's lives.

As the eldest son of Robert and Mary Richardson, Bob is survived by brothers Dwight and Al and sister Ruth. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them in Ruckersville Virginia playing horseshoes and cornhole.

Throughout his career as an accountant for the U.S. Government, Bob's diligence and dedication were evident. His professional life was more than just a job; it was an extension of his commitment to serve his community and country with excellence.

Bob's heart found solace and joy in attending church, where he was a steadfast member. His faith was not just a Sunday routine but a daily practice that illuminated his path and provided strength during life's trials. He was involved in the startup of Faith Baptist Church and he was a faithful member for over 30 years.

As a sports enthusiast, Bob's loyalty to the Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and Maryland Terrapins was as enduring as his love for country music. These interests were more than just hobbies; they were channels through which he connected with friends, family, and the simple pleasures of life.

Bob's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy endures through the lives he touched. We are all the richer for having known him, and he will be dearly missed. Let us honor his memory by living our lives with the same courage, kindness, and unwavering faith that he demonstrated every day. Bob Richardson's story is one of a journey well-traveled, a race well-run, and a life well-lived. May he rest in peace, secure in the knowledge that his love lives on in our hearts.
