Mark Alan McRae

Mark Alan McRae, 58 of Lexington, SC passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 22, 2023. Mark was born on July 14, 1964 in Columbia, SC. He was the son of Jacqueline Harmon McRae and the late Olin McKissack McRae, Jr. He was also a member of Greenhill Baptist Church in West Columbia.

Mark was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences. He worked as a Construction Site Manager and was a successful Entrepreneur.

Mark was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and was always willing to entertain a good political conversation. He had a passion for bodybuilding, restoring muscle cars, playing guitar, and coaching youth sports. He was also an avid fan of USC Gamecocks sports.

Mark was preceded in death by his son, Payton A. McRae, and father, Olin McKissack McRae, Jr.
Mark is survived by his mother Jacqueline H. McRae, brother Olin M. McRae, III, sister Katherine McRae Krissinger (Mark), brother Steven G. McRae, nephews Jacob and Adam Krissinger, and several other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, June 5, 2023 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow the service at Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, South Carolina.
