Ralph McRae

Ralph Edward McRae, 83, died January 25, 2026 in Corydon, Indiana. He was born March 14, 1942, to Edward and Ruth (Johnson) McRae in Floyd County, Indiana.

Ralph was a member for the South Central High School Class of 1960 which held the distinct honor of being the second graduating class of the establishment. After graduation, Ralph worked as a butcher for the Jay-C Stores in Salem, Corydon, English and Marengo. Ralph served in the US Army Reserve for six years as a Radio Technician. Upon completion of his enlistment he had attained the rank of Sergeant. He then went to work for Olan Matheson at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Indiana. Ralph attended Ivy Tech where he received 2 degrees, He served at Director of the CETA Program of Harrison County, assisting the unemployed with education, training and job placement. In 1977. Ralph began the role that he would work until his retirement in 2010. At the Harrison County Hospital, he served in many roles-EMT, maintenance and security.

Beyond his professional life, Ralph was deeply involved in his community. He devoted many years to Indiana Rural Youth, traveling throughout Southern Indiana and Illinois serving in many leadership roles.

He was a member and served as director for Rogers Campground Church and Cemetery, supported the Corydon Historical Society and enjoyed arrowhead shows. He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club and attended faithfully the National Farm Machinery Show missing only three.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remember by his cousins he leaves behind, Bruce Cunningham, Dennis Cunningham, Tom Cunningham, Donna Russel and several other cousins.

There will be a visitation for Ralph held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to the time of the funeral at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, 318 E. Chestnut Street, Corydon, Indiana. Rev. Richard Goodwin will conduct Ralph's funeral on Tuesday, February 3 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with interment at Evans Landing Cemetery in Elizabeth, Indiana.

In iieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Evans Landing Cemetery or Rogers Campground Cemetery Fund.
