Mark W. Mickels, 69, a lifelong area resident of Amsterdam, New York passed away August 22, 2025. He was born on June 2, 1956, in Amsterdam, New York to William and Carol Mickels.

Mark was a lifelong member of the Liberty community since their opening. Throughout his time with Liberty Mark made many friendships along the way with both clients and staff alike. He didn't miss a chance to watch stock car racing or baseball - he was a huge Yankees fan. Mark was also a dog lover and enjoyed quiet time with his word find books. Hershey candy kisses were his absolute favorite treat.

Mark is survived by his niece and nephews Joshua D. Mickels, Danielle V. Shuffleberg, and Jonathan D. Mickels; sister-in-law Valerie Sanford; and his many friends in the Liberty community.

In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his only brother John D. "Micks" Mickels.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Liberty for not only their care of Mark, but for enriching his life and allowing him to cultivate memories and adventures that he may not have been able to without their support.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home at 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY. A service will take place at the funeral home at 11 AM. Mark will be laid to rest in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. If anyone would like to send flowers, the family graciously welcomes them.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes.
