Mark Minchey
CLEVELAND/TOQUERVILLE, UTAH- Mark Eugene Minchey passed away in Toquerville, Utah at the age of 88 of natural causes from CLL Leukemia.
He was born on Christmas Day 1936 to parents June and LaVon Minchey.
He married Verda Hansen and their family was complete with five children.
Mark was born and raised on the farm in Cleveland, Utah where he learned the meaning of hard work by helping his dad farm with Percheron horses and later working for companies prospecting for Uranium. While going to North Emery High School Mark played the saxophone which led to playing in bands for dances throughout Emery and Carbon Counties.
Mark worked at several welding shops that spanned from Price to Kennecott and later built his own shop Price-Steel Fab. where he was involved in building several mining loadouts and tipples; never wanting to retire he later built a motel in Escalante, Utah, had a gold mine in Arizona and Alaska, but his best work was teaching his children how to do their best at anything they needed to do. We will miss all the knowledge and life stories but we're reassured that the struggle of pain is over.
Survived by his wife, Verda; his children, Lynn (Sherrie), Verla (Shen), Conna (Kern), and Lee (Lorri); sister, LynnAnn (Gary Wilson); brother, Jack (Zelma); 15 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his son, Tim; grandchildren, Maple Raventos and Charlie Rasmussen; parents, June and LaVon Minchey; brothers, Emerald, Lester (Shauna), and Henry (Lynetta); and brother-in-law, Roger Jones.
A Public visitation will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. Private Funeral Services will take place the following day, Saturday, February 15, 2025; following which, Mark will be laid to rest in the Elmo Town Cemetery.
