Oscar J. Minchey, age 98, of Madison, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2025. Born in Jackson County, Tennessee on April 26, 1927, Oscar was the son of the late Oscar Lee Minchey and Abbie Huffines Minchey. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Layton Tildon (Alice) Minchey and Gordon Hoyt (Gayle) Minchey; and sisters Elise (Roy) Wood, Betty (Harvey) Bennett, and Bonnie (Gray) Bennett. Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mildred T. Minchey; son Kevin (Laura) Minchey; granddaughter Anna (Drake) Denning; and great-grandsons Abram and Asher Denning. He is also survived by his brother James Minchey; sister-in-law Elaine (Bobby) Averitt; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Oscar proudly served in the United States Army beginning in April 1945, spending most of his service in Germany. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life, Mildred Thompson, in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Together they built a life filled with love, faith, and family. He worked at DuPont before retiring from Ford Motor Company's Nashville Glass Plant. A devoted member of First Baptist Church Madison, Oscar served faithfully as a deacon and taught Sunday School to 5th grade boys for many years. He was also a proud member of Masonic Lodge 762 in Madison. Oscar found joy in simple pleasures-spending time with family on the back porch, tending to his yard, and fishing for crappie. He was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
