Celebrating the Vibrant Life of Thomas "Wayne" Smith (Smitty) Sr. April 21st, 1950 - October 1st, 2025 We celebrate the beautiful life of Thomas "Wayne" Smith (Smitty) Sr., a man who turned every rev of a motorcycle engine into a reason to smile. His spark filled roads, workshops, and family gatherings alike. Today we share joyful memories of the miles he rode, the jokes he cracked, and the care he poured into everyone around him. Wayne was born on April 21st, 1950, in Madison, Tennessee, and soon showed the grit that would guide his path. He served three proud years in the Marine Corps, earning an honorable discharge that he carried with quiet pride. That same resolve later powered him through two decades of dedicated work with TVA. A gifted mechanic, Wayne could coax life back into any engine. Motorcycles called to him most, and for more than 20 years he answered with Rolling Thunder rides that echoed freedom and fellowship. He also shone on the range, earning respect in shooting competitions. When NASCAR roared or drag cars launched, Wayne was right there, eyes bright and cheering every finish. At home, Wayne mixed a firm hand with a quick wit, raising his sons to be respectful, responsible, and ready to lend a hand. His hard-headed streak often ended in laughter, because he loved turning any moment into a joke. The stories of his one-liners will keep family tables lively for years to come. He shares his lasting joy with his wife Deborah Smith of 55 years; sons Wayne Smith and Chris (Monica) Smith; and grandchildren Austin Soligon, Logan Smith, Owen Smith, and Ansleigh Smith. Sisters Karen Robinson and Temisha Holland continue the family bond they built together. Wayne now joins his parents, William T. Smith and Mary Smith, who preceded him in passing. Each of them helped shape the strong, caring man we honor today. We close this celebration grateful for every mile, laugh, and lesson Wayne shared.
