Mark Roy Morgan, Jr. born on May 7, 1943, in Haywood, North Carolina, passed away at Haywood Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. A devoted individual, Mark was a lifelong resident of the Bethel Community and dedicated over 40 years of his life to Blue Ridge Paper, retiring with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Mark was not only an exemplary worker but also a proud National Guard veteran, serving his country with honor. His passions extended beyond his career; he found joy in deer hunting and gardening, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and demonstrate his love for the outdoors. As a cherished grandfather, Mark embraced his role as “Poppy,” finding immense happiness in actively participating in the lives of his granddaughters, Sam Morgan and Savanah Morgan.
In his passing, Mark leaves behind two sons, Travis Morgan (Nicki) and Jason Morgan, both of Bethel, who will carry forward his legacy of love and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hazel Long Morgan, and his beloved wife, Shirley Rogers Morgan, who passed away in 2019.
A visitation will take place at Wells Funeral Home in Canton on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, providing family and friends the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable man.
Mark Roy Morgan's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, a testament to a life well-lived and a family well-loved.
The care of Mr. Morgan has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
