Mark was born on February 15, 1956 in Dallas, Texas at the Florence Nightingale Hospital to James Ray and Bobbie Jean (Kimbrel) Morphew. He married Cathy Sells on February 28, 1976 in Dallas, Texas. Mark worked as a Master Tool & Die Maker and Designer and as the supervisor of the Tool & Die department at Simpson Strong-Tie for 32 years. Mark was also a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, a solid rock to his family and friends. He loved to laugh and make others laugh, but he was serious when it came to doing what was right, even if it took sacrifice. He loved to fly and had many books full of airplanes. He loved Jesus and devoted his life to Him and to church. He was a very good man, a rare gem upon this earth, whose life will be missed by all who knew him. Mark had a liver transplant in 2022 and his living donor, Casey Soper Hackler, gave us 3 more priceless years to enjoy life and for him to see his precious grandchildren born.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Morphew; sons, Micah Allen Morphew and wife, Julie, Dr. David Ryan Morphew and wife, Renae; grandchildren, Liam David Morphew and Skye Blossom Morphew; sisters, Pam Morphew-Pati and husband, Bib, and Susan Morphew-High and husband, Bill; brother, Chad Morphew; sisters-in-law, Julie Stewart and husband, David and Danna Marie “Susie” Rouse; brother-in-law, L.J. “Jay” Sells Jr. and wife, Angela; nieces, Andrea Bonecutter, Jennifer Barton and husband, Louis, Shanna High, Callie Cantu and husband, Franky, Jaycie Salinas and husband, Fabian and Mikayla Rouse; nephews, Alvie Faulkenbery and wife, Ana, Nathaniel Ross Stewart and wife, Hannah, Tristen Rouse, Dillon Henegar, Noah Sells and Wyatt Sells.
