Funeral service for Patsy Sue Burks, age 83, of Krum, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Stouts Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Patsy was born on April 9, 1942, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Leslie and Flora Jones. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family March 9, 2026. Patsy lived a life rich in love, warmth, and dedication to her family and passions.
She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Gerald Smith, whom she married in 1961, and Thomas Burks, whom she wed in 1990. She was also predeceased by her son, Kenneth Smith, and her grandson, Kaleb Smith.
Patsy is survived by her sister Peggy Belcher and husband Larry. She is also survived by her daughter Debbie Blankenship, and husband Perry. Patsy was the proud grandmother of Wesley Smith, his wife Joanna, Brittney Black, her husband Barton, Brandi Silva, her husband Dewayne, Taylor Blankenship, his wife Jennifer, and Bethany Blankenship, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Her great-grandchildren, Sophie, Violet, Landon, Nate, Case, Liam, Kaiden, and Miles, were the light of her later years.
Patsy's vibrant personality shone through in her many hobbies and interests. Her love for gardening was evident in the beautiful blooms that adorned her home, each plant a testament to her nurturing nature. She found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of fishing and hunting, activities that connected her with nature. Her hands were rarely idle, as she was a master of crafts and needlework, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured for generations. Known for her culinary skills, Patsy's kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of her best cooking, a place where family gathered to share stories and laughter.
Above all, Patsy loved Jesus and her family fiercely, her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the importance of family bonds. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know her. Patsy Burks will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ, reunited with those she loved and lost.
