Barbara T. Burks

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43227.

Barbara Towers Burks, 80, of Columbus, Ohio, sunset March 4, 2026. Barbara was the youngest child born, April 3, 1945, to Walter Leonard Towers and Jeffie Pearl Towers.

Barbara lived a full life as a proud East High School tiger and graduate of Central State University, where she earned her degree in teaching. She loved her work as an educator and served in various Columbus Public Schools for many years. After completing her master's degree in counseling, she became a guidance counselor, supporting and inspiring students throughout her career. She later continued her lifelong dedication to helping others by working as a service coordinator, assisting senior citizens in attaining the services they needed. Barbara loved music and reminisced about playing the violin in her youth. She also enjoyed praising God and expressing herself by singing and dancing.

Barbara was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter Towers and Jeffie Towers; brothers Huey Granderson, Timothy Towers, and George Towers; sister Walterine Scott; and her husband of over 50 years George V. Burks.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Dagayla Burks and Ashley (Franklin) Moore, her cherished grandchildren Franklin, Ashton, Jasmynn, Christian, Caiden, and Jhaelynn Moore; brothers Leonard (Kimico) Turner, Tracy (Jackie) Turner; sisters Janice Bostic and Wendy Broussard and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
