Mark Morton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riverview Abbey Funeral Home - Portland on Feb. 24, 2026.
Our beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle & friend Mark Morton passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026.

Mark had many accomplishments in his life. The most important, Mark would say, being his family: His wife and best friend Carmen, and his sons Tyler & Cole. Mark was committed to them and his main purpose was to ensure their happiness, security and the promise of a good life.

Mark loved life. He never wasted a day taking it for granted. He loved openly and shared his love with all of us. He never met a stranger. He was always available His door was always open to those that loved him.

He loved deeply and with principle. He listened with his heart and always wanted everyone to be together and to know how important they were to him.

Mark worked for 20 years at Chown Hardware, holding different positions. Managing the Contract Department being what he loved best. He loved going to work. As he grew weaker in doing so he continued showing up until 2 ½ weeks before passing. Mark was a force and so brave in the face of death. He continued to cherish every bit of life he was given. He loved his wife and children fiercely.

Mark loved sports. He loved watching his two sons play basketball, soccer and T-ball – his favorite weekend pastime, followed by his Green Bay Packers. "Go Pack Go"

Mark is survived by his wife, Carmen Marie Morton, his sons Tyler William Morton and Cole Joseph Morton, his father Ronald Morton, mother Paula Bottom (Morton), John Bottom (stepdad), sister Angela L. Morton, and two nieces: Abigail Jo Ansell & Harlie Rose Ansell. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents – Joseph & Louise Zabaldo and paternal grandparents – Marion Robert Morton & Betty Luise Morton. And lastly, his faithful companion, his dog, Reggie.

Many thanks to his mother-in-law,Maria Ming who cared for Mark in his last weeks and for the support in doing so from father-in-law Bill Ming.
