Mark Douglas Munsch, aged 62, passed away on November 25, 2024, in Hays, KS. Born on July 10, 1962, Mark was a man of deep devotion to his family and friends, known for his patriotism and love of sports, particularly as a lifelong fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas City Chiefs. His tender heart extended to his pets and all animals, and he lived by the motto, 'Have faith and be strong,' guiding him through life's challenges.
Mark's early education was at Sacred Heart School, followed by Ness City High School, where he excelled in athletics, participating in football, basketball, and track. He furthered his education at Goodland Vo-tech. Professionally, Mark dedicated his life to the oilfield industry, where he was respected for his extensive knowledge and expertise as a skilled pump specialist. He spent 24 years working for Sunrise in McCook, Nebraska, and Hays, Kansas, serving as a store manager and pump shop manager.
Mark was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the JCs, reflecting his love for Ness City and its community. He had a passion for music, especially oldies and classics, which he enjoyed sharing with friends and family. Known for his humor and love of pranks, Mark brought joy to those around him and was affectionately known as a 'fun dad & uncle.' His empathy and concern for others' safety and well-being were evident, especially during their travels.
Mark's unwavering love for his only daughter, Taylor, whom he raised on his own, was evident in every aspect of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Taylor Munsch; his sister, Diana Jennings of Hays, KS; his brother, Cory Munsch (wife Pam) of Hays, KS; his sister, Renee Spriggs (husband Kirk) of Olathe, KS; his beloved grand dog, Dolly; and many nieces and nephews who cherished their strong relationships with him. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Vera Munsch, and siblings John, Alan, and Pam (Munsch) Rein, as well as his nephew, Jared Rein.
A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 510 S School St, Ness City, KS 67560, on Saturday, December 7, 2024. The service will begin at 9:30 AM with a Rosary, followed by a eulogy from his daughter Taylor, and a Mass led by Fr. Pascal Klein. A graveside service will follow at Ness City Catholic Cemetery.
