Regis Munsch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - Pine Avenue Branch on Jan. 5, 2026.
Regis E. Munsch, loving husband and father of seven, age 93, of Erie, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He was born on April 13, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Catherine (Idzikowski) Munsch.
Regis proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He spent many years in Pittsburgh, where he was employed in a variety of occupations. He moved to Erie in 1978, where he worked as a baker for many years at Colonial Bakery, Paul Bunyan, and Giant Eagle, retiring after a long and dedicated career. He was a member of the Carl Neff American Legion Post in Wesleyville.
Regis enjoyed hunting, fishing, baking, camping, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Munsch; sisters, Alice Aul (George) and Gert Gorski (John); brother, George Munsch; brother-in-law, John Moran; son-in-law, Kelly Motter; grandchildren, James and Randy; one great-grandchild; and close friends Bill Morrow, John Griep, and Gary Brooks.
Regis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy June (Pogue) Munsch; sister, Shirley Moran; six children: Bobby Munsch (Cindy), Thomas Munsch, Gary Munsch (Kim), Theresa Keefer (David), Joyce Motter, and Max Munsch; ten grandchildren: Michael, Terry, Charles, Amber, Jessica, Jonathan, Kayla, Michelle, Greg, and Lisa; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his former spouse, Beverly Munsch; and longtime friends Frank Vitous and Thomas Reedy.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Lakeland Area Hospice of Erie for their exceptional compassion, professionalism, and gentle care, which brought comfort to Regis during his final months.
Friends may call on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504. A service will follow, officiated by Lakeland Hospice Chaplain Frank. Military honors will be conducted by the Carl Neff American Legion Post.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505, or to the American Heart Association.
