Mark Nalepa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gramer Funeral Home – Diener Chapel - Shelby Township on Dec. 14, 2024.
Mark William Nalepa, age 40, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Mark's life was a testament to hard work, a love of adventure, and a deep passion for learning and exploration.
Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, Mark graduated from Utica High School and earned his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). He spent seven years as a dedicated gravel truck driver with Proline Asphalt and Paving Company, where he took pride in his work. Outside of his career, Mark's life was enriched by his many hobbies and interests.
Mark had a profound love for history, particularly American and world history, and was captivated by law and the exploration of conspiracy theories. His adventurous nature was evident in his certification as a diver in Michigan lakes and his love of camping. He treasured camping trips with his sons to Northern Michigan and the Smoky Mountains, creating memories they will cherish forever.
A passionate gardener, Mark enjoyed cultivating and canning his own produce. He took pride in growing crops like watermelon, cucumbers, and sunflowers and built his own garden beds with care and creativity. His resourcefulness extended to repairing vehicles with his sons.
Mark's home was filled with love and laughter, often shared with his beloved cats, Admiral and Spook. He had a curious mind and found joy in reading and reflecting on religion and spirituality. Known for his contagious smile, Mark had an innate ability to light up every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who met him.
Above all, Mark was a devoted father to his sons, Mark Nalepa (Rhea Payne) and Zachary Nalepa. He was immensely proud of them and cherished the time they spent together. His love and guidance shaped their lives and will continue to inspire them.
Mark is survived by his children, Mark and Zachary Nalepa; his father, Mark S. Nalepa; his sister, Cindy Nalepa; his aunts, Susan Meeker and Amy Skaleski; and his uncle, Tom Nalepa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Jean Nalepa.
Mark's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love, joy, and curiosity he brought into the world.
Visitation for Mark will be held from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Gramer Funeral Home, Diener Chapel, 48271 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Twp., MI 48317.
