James “Jim” Leever

James "Jim" Allison Leever, a longtime resident of Troy for over 50 years, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2026, at the age of 92, after a long and fulfilling life.

Jim was born on December 20, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of four children to Gustave and Catherine Leever. He was raised in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School. Jim continued his education at Fort Wayne Bible College and later earned his master's degree from Wayne State University. He also served his country in the U.S. Army.

Jim dedicated many years to education, teaching at Pershing High School until 1976. He later became a successful entrepreneur, operating his own lawn irrigation company serving the tri-county area for many years.

In 1964, Jim married the love of his life, Carol, in Seville, Spain. Together they raised three children and shared many happy years of marriage until her passing on March 20, 2019.

A faithful member of Eastlawn Missionary Church, now known as Phos Church, where he was a long-time deacon and youth minister, Jim found great joy in studying his Bible. He also loved being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time with his beloved family and dog. He will be remembered for his quiet faith, steady work ethic, and deep devotion to his family.

Jim is survived by his children, Ruth (Chip) Rainey, Lori (Don) Zink, and Eric (Tamara) Leever; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Leever; his parents Gustave and Catherine Leever; and his siblings.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Gramer Funeral Home, Diener Chapel, 48271 Van Dyke Avenue, Shelby Township, Michigan 48317. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the same location.
