Mark Steven Olson passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2025. He was born June 8, 1950, in Bonners Ferry, ID, to Arthur J. and Lillian R. Olson. The youngest of five children, Mark was raised by Lillian and stepfather Loren (Lanky) Jamison of Troy, MT.
As a graduate of Troy High School class of 1968, Mark worked as a box boy for Kensler's IGA his Junior and Senior years before enlisting in the Air Force in 1969.
After Honorably serving two tours in Vietnam, Sgt Mark S. Olson became a Civil Service Employee for the USAF at Edwards AF Base in California, training young Airmen. Mark retired in 2004 after 33 years of being a dedicated Aircraft Maintenance Instructor.
Mark retired to Troy, MT where he loved to fish and hunt. He was an active life member of the Troy VFW Post 1554 and helped arrange funerals for many honorable discharge veterans' services. He was also the president of the Milnor Lake Cemetery Board and assisted with many funeral services. Mark never said no to anyone in need, his voluntary stewardship was unwavering to follow veterans and the community of Troy, and R.I.P.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Arthur Olson; mother Lillian Olson-Jamison; stepfather Loren (Lanky) Jamison; sister Jeanie Harvey; and brothers Rodney C. Olson and Larry J. Olson. He leaves behind his only living brother Paul J. Olson; many cousins; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Military Services to be held on Veterans Day November 11, 2025. The time and place will be announced later. Arrangements are under the Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby, MT. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
