Mark A. Petersen

Mark A. Petersen passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at the age of 61. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
Survived by his wife, Lisa Petersen; two daughters, Faith and Grace Petersen of Joliet, Illinois; mother, Frieda Petersen of McHenry, Illinois, brothers, Brian Petersen of McHenry, Illinois, and Scott (Jing) Petersen of Joliet, Illinois, and his nephew, Weifu.
Preceded in death by his father, Neil Petersen, and his brother Kerry Petersen.
Mark was born on December 2, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Hillside, Illinois. He attended Proviso High School West and was a 1988 graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Mark had an accomplished career in construction management; he was an estimator in Greater Chicago, most recently at Reyes Group, formally at TJ Lambrecht and Diamond Construction. Mark had a can-do attitude and was known for researching any problem and figuring out how to solve it. Mark was a dedicated husband and father who doted on his wife and daughters. Mark supported his family and friends in every way that he could and would drop everything to help those in need. Mark enjoyed spending time with those that he loved, exploring nature, playing racquetball, and watching all of his Chicago sports teams. Mark and his wife Lisa have been together for 36 years and built a life together that they were incredibly proud of. They shared a love for traveling together in the Motorhome, going out with friends, and spoiling their pets. Mark and his daughter Faith shared a love for STEM, animals, and the outdoors. Mark and his daughter Grace shared a love for sports, learning, and adventures. Mark loved coaching & supporting Grace's softball teams and attended nearly every one of her games.
Mark can never be replaced and will be forever missed. We will hold him in our hearts until we meet again.
A Celebration of Marks life will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431, Saturday June 3, 2023, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Family and friends to share stories at 1:00 pm. As it was Mark's request, cremation rites have been accorded.
