Paul E. (Bud) Petersen, 100, of Simsbury and formerly of West Hartford, beloved husband of Elsie (Allen) Petersen, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026. Born in West Hartford, January 12, 1926, son of the late Andrew C. and Karen J. (Kristensen) Petersen, he lived in West Hartford most of his life moving to Simsbury in 2005. Paul graduated from Hall High School and earned his BA from Dartmouth College in 1949. He served honorably in the US Air Force during WW II. He served as President and CFO for the family business, AC Petersen Farms, a dairy, and large chain of restaurants serving their signature homemade ice cream, until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Hartford. An avid golfer, he was Past President of the Golf Club of Avon. He also served as Past President of the CT Milk Dealers Assoc, Treasurer of the CT Dairy Food Council, and member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.

Besides his wife Elsie to whom he was married for 77 years, he leaves a son, Allen C. Petersen and his wife Janice of East Granby; a daughter, Nancy P. Cain and her husband George of Saratoga Springs, NY; and three grandchildren Alexander Cain, Erik Petersen (Olivia), and Abigail Ross (Jason). He also leaves 4 great grandchildren, Lucy Petersen, Bennett Petersen, Stella Ross and Alexander Ross. Beside his parents he was predeceased by a brother Raymond E. Petersen and a sister Anna Claire Murtaugh.

Funeral Services will be private and held at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center of Avon. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
