FORESTVILLE: Mark Hasbrouck Petersen, 75, of Center Street, Forestville, beloved brother, son, uncle and friend to all, passed suddenly at home on July 1, 2024. He was born in Silver Creek on March 16, 1949, son of the late Theodore and Agnes Ruth (Hasbrouck) Petersen, Sr.
Mark was known as the unofficial mayor of Forestville & village historian, he will be missed by many. Mark touched people's hearts & minds with his friendly manner and beautiful smile. He loved dogs and lovingly cared for the lucky ones that came into his life. Mark had an extraordinary memory for the names of the people he met on his walks, which the villagers enjoyed. He was faithful, loyal and deeply loved by his family. He will be dearly missed.
Mark is survived by siblings Christopher Petersen, Marcia Petersen, Carl (Lydia) Petersen; cousins, nieces, nephew and his two dogs Mickey & Polly. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Theodore Petersen, Jr. and Richard Petersen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private interment will be in the Forestville Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Forestville Fire Department, Inc. PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062.
