Mark Allan Pryor, born August 24, 1954, in
Alameda, CA, passed away on April 1, 2025, in his lifelong hometown. He was 70 years old, doing what he loved-riding his bicycle.
Mark received his BS in Information Systems Management from University of San Francisco and completed his Masters of Science in Management of Technology at the National Technological University. He worked his way up in the tech world and finished his career as a Technical Director in telecommunications, helping connect people across the world.
Mark was a passionate cyclist, a great leader, and a tremendous mentor. As a ride leader for Team Alameda, Alameda Velo, Alameda Mellows Cycling, and the Almaden Cycle Touring Club, Mark was a force in the cycling community, always pushing fellow riders to improve while sharing his knowledge and love for the sport. He inspired countless others and was dedicated to helping them reach their cycling goals. Beyond biking, he loved hiking, camping, and traveling, always seeking new adventures.
Mark shared 37 years with his wife, Janet Chang-Pryor, and together they raised their daughter, Karen Chang Pryor, and welcomed Karen's husband, Adam Gluskin, into the family. He is also survived by his foster sister Tina Gonzales. His parents, Roger and Elaine Pryor and his siblings Nancy, David, Tim and Robyn preceded him in death.
Mark was also an avid baseball fan. For 35 years, he went on yearly trips with a small group of close friends, known as "Brothers in Baseball," visiting stadiums and off-beat locales. For Mark, it wasn't about the game itself, but the camaraderie, the shared experiences, and the unique atmosphere of each ballpark that made these trips so special. He also enjoyed jamming to Frank Zappa, lively discussions about World War II history, and reading every placard in any museum he visited.
Mark's legacy is in the lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and generosity. He lived life with energy, and he'll be remembered for the joy he brought to others and his giving nature. A dedicated blood donor, Mark regularly donated to the American Red Cross, supporting babies and premature infants in need.
