Mark Reaves Obituary

Mark Reaves

Oct 7, 1963 - Aug 6, 2025

Mark Halliday Reaves, 61, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 6, 2025, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mark was born in Gastonia, N.C., to Cliff and Luke's Reaves and was raised along with his beloved sister Martha in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School where he would meet and befriend lifelong friends to this very day that will miss him dearly. Mark went on to graduate from Wake Forest University with a BA in Sociology and was also a member of the KA Fraternity and a huge supporter of everything Wake Forest University. Mark was passionate about many things in his life. Here are just a few; Winston-Salem Nationals Little League baseball where he and his mom and dad spent countless hours volunteering, playing, umpiring and spending time together as well as meeting other lifelong friends at the Phillips Bridge Road facility. Mark was an accomplished Eagle Scout, a founding member (and current reigning champion) of the Winston Salem Fantasy Football League. ("The Lizards") as well as an avid golfer. Mark was also an expert sports marketing executive with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. & Sports Marketing Enterprises of Winston-Salem and used his passion, expertise and professionalism in representing some of the biggest brands and clients in the world. Camel / Winston / Newport brands, Toyota, Craftsman, Honda, Fram as well as the United States National Guard were just some of the brands he passionately marketed. He also made more lifelong friends during the representation of these clients and colleagues. Mark's main passion and love in life were for the three families he called his own. His birth family (Martha Reaves and parents) as well as his chosen families (The Townsends of South Carolina by marriage to the only love of his life, Allison Reaves, and his expansive family of brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews), as well as The Grout family of Winston-Salem where he was a beloved 4th son and brother to Don Grout. Mark lived his life to the fullest every day and on his own terms and was most interested in knowing the details about the children, graduations, special events, and weddings, and he also enjoyed the occasional liberations (or two) along his life's journey. Mark is survived by his sister, Martha Grant of Winston-Salem; and his beloved dog and companion "Blue." Preceded in death by his parents Cliff Reaves and Martha (Lukey) Reaves. He is also survived by hundreds of close friends, colleagues, clients that he had as extended family that will never forget the impact Mark had on their lives and their hearts.

No services or ceremonies are planned but those wishing to make an impact and honor Mark's life are encouraged to make donations to the Winston-Salem National Little League in honor of Mark Reaves #6 - Cliff Reaves & Associates, 1977-1980. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
