Mark Ridgeway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by ISLAND FUNERAL SERVICE on Nov. 11, 2022.
Mark Allen Ridgeway, 63, died peacefully in his home on October 26, 2022 after saying goodbye to his family and friends and praying with the Bethel Church Men's Group. He loved basketball, working on cars and motorcycles, car racing, and spending time with his friends and family.
Mark was born on August 22, 1959, in Seattle, Washington to Quentin and LaDean Ridgeway. He attended Cleveland High School, where he was an excellent athlete. After high school, Mark went to community college to play soccer. Thereafter, he had his first son, Jeffrey Malcom, who now lives in Utah.
Mark met Lisa Mosher in a Seattle bar after she "accidentally" bumped him with her purse. Mark showed up to Lisa's job at Nordstrom the next day to ask her out, and the two were eventually married in 1987. Together, they had two sons-Joseph in 1992 and Daniel in 1993-whom they introduced to the island life when they moved the family to the home they constructed on Vashon, Washington in 1995.
Using his trusty Honda motorcycle, Mark commuted from Vashon to his job at Boeing where he painted airplanes for many years. Upon many of his return trips to his family's Vashon home, he made sure to give Joe and/or Daniel a ride up the driveway for fun. In the mid-2000s, Mark combined his experience at Boeing with his entrepreneurial skills to create a thriving residential painting company: Masterpiece Painting, LLC.
In addition to his career and family, Mark was an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing men's league basketball and soccer, racing cars, fishing, and riding motorcycles-both on road and offroad. Perhaps most famously, Mark enjoyed repairing cars and motorcycles in his shop, where he was quick to accurately diagnose and fix problems for family, friends, or even a stranger that he stopped to assist––which he did often. In the last few years, Mark enjoyed biking, hiking, and attending sporting events with friends, including fulfilling a lifelong dream of attending a Formula One race in Austin, Texas.
Mark is survived by his four siblings––Jennifer, Neal, Anthony, and Debbie––and his three sons––Jeff, Joe, and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on November 19, 2022 at Bethel Church on Vashon.
