Mark Stewart Sheppard was a beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He left this world suddenly on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at age 70, after a brief stay at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mark was preceded in death by both of his parents Richard Stuart Sheppard and Mildred Marie Noah Sheppard. Mark was born on January 21, 1955, in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and went on to study Economics at both Wingate College and UNCG. During his college years, Mark developed a love for tennis after following the careers of both Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi and even played on his college intramural tennis teams. Mark came from a long line of men that loved fixing things and working with their hands. This passion took him into his career path of maintenance at both Home Depot and Costco Wholesale. Mark worked at Home Depot from 1994 to 2001. After leaving Home Depot, Mark found his dream job at Costco Wholesale where he worked from 2001 until his death in 2025. Mark loved his family and friends, his country and most importantly his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Faith was an important part of Mark’s life, and it sustained him during his Prostate Cancer journey. Mark found love for Tarheel basketball during the late 70’s and early 80’s while watching his team win many national championships. Mark was loving, kind and compassionate. He was a trusted confidant, mentor and friend to many that knew him, and he will truly be missed. Mark is survived by his sister, Rhonda Sheppard Pepper (Kent), a nephew, Trent Carter: and two uncles, Wayne Noah (Betty) and Bill Sheppard (Sherry). The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at both Kernersville Medical Center and the Katie B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their professional care given to Mark during his last days of life. Kent, Rhonda and Trent would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Mark’s friends and coworkers at Costco Wholesale for all their love and support shown to the Sheppard family during this difficult time.
