Mark Stalcup Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pitman Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Wentzville Chapel on Jan. 27, 2026.
Mark Lester Stalcup passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on February 18, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Lester and Charlotte (Bagiott) Stalcup. Mark married his loving wife, Deanna Sue Stalcup, on September 29, 1984 in St. Charles, MO. They shared 32 years of marriage prior to her passing in December of 2016.

Mark proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959. Following his military service, he began a lifelong career with McDonnell Douglas, later Boeing, where his work aligned perfectly with his passion for aviation. He had a deep love for jets and air shows and never lost his appreciation for the engineering and beauty of flight.

In addition to aviation, Mark enjoyed attending and watching auto racing, particularly road and street course racing. He loved the outdoors and found joy in hiking and exploring the countryside. A true people person, Mark was well known for his love of good restaurants and even better conversation, always eager to meet new people and share stories.

Above all else, Mark was devoted to his family. He treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren and especially loved taking them to the Zoo, the Science Center, the Magic House, and anywhere that encouraged learning and curiosity. Creating meaningful memories and sharing knowledge with the next generation brought him great happiness.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Stalcup of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, and Brian Stalcup of Montgomery, Missouri; stepchildren, Lisa (Jack) Grubbs of Wentzville, Missouri, and Mark (Toni) Wherley of Kansas City, Missouri; his sister, Marilyn Bramoweth of St. Louis, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Becca, AJ, Ally, Austin, Cody, and Wade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Charlotte Stalcup; his wife, Deanna Sue Stalcup; and his brother-in-law, Howard Bramoweth.

Mark will be remembered for his curiosity, kindness, love of learning, and devotion to his family.
