I believe I was Mark's 2nd cousin. My dad Hart Mayer and Harriet were 1st cousins. I've been doing some family research and I came across the obituary. I didn't know Mark very well, but I remember he used to come into my Dad's store, Hart Mayer's Coins Stamps and Antique. It looks look Mark had a good family and professional life, but he died much too soon. My condolences to the family.

I was saddened when I saw that Mark had passed. Mark and I attended UT together in the Civil Engineering program and shared an apartment in Austin. I remember getting a new Doors album (our favorite group) and Mark taping it on it on his reel-to-reel recorder. After graduating from UT we both ended up in Houston and also shared an apartment in Houston for a few years. We played on a slow pitch softball team together for a few years. Our rag tag team with no uniforms and a paper bag for equipment surprised many of our opponents as we won many of the various league championships. Mark was a great slow pitch pitcher. Unfortunately, as everyone started moving on in their careers, I lost touch with Mark. I will always remember him as a great friend.
