Mark Anthony Velasquez, passed away peacefully at his home in Kalamazoo, MI, on October 19, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1965, in Kalamazoo, and throughout his life, he displayed a kind and caring spirit that touched the hearts of those around him.

Mark was a proud US Army Veteran, having served in Iraq, an experience that shaped his life and underscored his dedication to his country. His military service exemplified his commitment, and he carried the values learned during that time into all aspects of his life.

Mark had a generous personality, always ready to lend a helping hand and looking for ways to feel needed. He remained a big kid at heart, finding joy in simple pleasures. Mark loved riding his Harley and cherished the moments he spent baking treats, especially the time spent with his beloved nieces and nephews. A devoted Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed watching football, playing video games, and immersing himself in movies and wrestling. In recent years, he had taken up learning to play the guitar, a musical talent handed down to him from his father.

He leaves behind his son, Scott Velasquez, and two grandsons, Gage Thomas Velasquez and Tobias Josef Velasquez. Mark is also survived by his siblings, Chris (Lisa) Velasquez, Cathy Aldrich, Mike Velasquez, Terri Allen, Tim (Shanna) Velasquez, and Michele (Eric) Russell. He also adored numerous nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Hector and Vivian (Ross) Velasquez, his brother-in-law, Andy Aldrich, and his beloved dog, Junior.

Mark’s life will be honored with a Memorial Luncheon at St. Ambrose Catholic Church Parish Hall 1628 E. G Ave. Parchment, MI 49004 on October 28, 2025,  from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by inurnment at Fort Custer National Cemetery with military honors at 1:30 PM. The family invites all who knew Mark to join together in remembrance of his generous spirit and the love he shared with so many. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to K9s for Warriors, in memory of Mark.
