MARKANTHONY ALFARO
MarkAnthony Alfaro, beloved husband, son, father, future grandfather, uncle, brother, coach, and friend, passed away far too soon on Thursday, January 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, mentorship, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved.
Born on June 24, 1987, Mark discovered early what would become two of the great passions of his life: football and the girl who would one day become his wife. In the sixth grade, he won her heart in the most genuine way he knew-by leaving half of his uneaten snacks for her in her mother's homeroom class. It was the beginning of a lifelong love story built on generosity, laughter, and partnership.
A proud and die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Mark brought the same energy and loyalty he had for his team into every part of his life. As a CYO basketball coach, Little League baseball coach, football coach for the Atascosa Aggies and his current team STX Rebels, he dedicated himself to mentoring kids both on and off the field. He believed that faith and prayer was the driving force behind all things in life and sports could shape character, build confidence, and give young people a sense of belonging. His players knew him not just as a coach, but as a role model, someone who showed up, listened, and cared. Mark had a God given gift of capturing the attention of his players. His past and present players would always seek him out wherever he was. Most of the time, it was in the stands watching his boys play. He always had time for them
Above all else, Mark was a devoted husband and father. His family was the center of his world, and he poured his heart into creating a home filled with love, encouragement, and joy. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, offering guidance, or simply making his loved ones laugh, he brought warmth and steadiness to every moment.
Mark loved to laugh but he especially loved to make others laugh. He would come up with unique names such as Bubber, Papas, Party Mode, Coffee Gang, Peaches, Best Friend, La Ranchita, and Sisssster just to get things going. Then he would go to his second move in his playbook which were those uncomfortable extra loving hugs with those sweet nothings whispered in your ear getting you to laugh and blush all through it. Lastly, let us not forget all the corny jokes that he would come up with.
Mark was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Domingo Rivera, Grandmother, Esperanza L. Rivera, Paternal Grandmother, Adela A. Rodriguez and Father-in-law, James Gonzales
Mark leaves behind his loving wife, Jacquelyn, their children, Noah, Elijah, Abraham and DeannRose; Father, Martin Alfaro, Mother, Debra Quinones, Step-Dad, Pedro Guerra, Brother, Martin Alfaro (MaryAnn), Brother, Mason Guerra (Alexis), Sister, Michelle Alfaro Reyes (Joshua); Mother-in-law, Rosemary Gonzales, Sister & Brother-in-law, Carlos and Sarah Hernandez, numerous nieces, nephews and a community of players, friends, and family who will forever feel the impact of his generosity and spirit.
His time with us was far too short, but the lives he touched-and the lessons he taught-will continue to ripple forward for years to come.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2026, all at St. Philip of Benizi Catholic Church, starting with a reciting of the rosary at 3:30 pm, a celebration of mass at 4:00 pm, followed by a visitation from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Services will conclude at the church.
