Markus M. Wehrli

Markus Wehrli, 64 of Kings Park, passed away suddenly on July 5th, 2025. His unexpected departure has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. In keeping with his generous and selfless nature, Markus gave the gift of life through organ donation an act that reflects the compassion with which he lived every day.
Markus was the devoted husband of Theresa Marie his best friend and partner in life. Together they built a beautiful family and shared a life full of love, humor and unforgettable memories. He was the proud father of two daughters Liz Wehrli & Rita Marie and son-in-law Stephen Thomas and a devoted stepfather to Justin Sanchez & Jason Sanchez whom he loved as his own. His role as husband, father and papa to Kelsea was his greatest joy and deepest source of pride.
A man of curiosity and creativity, Markus had a passion for technology & loved pushing the boundaries of home automation. He was known to test the limits of what Alexa could do often with hilarious results. Whether he was automating lights, music or the coffee maker, Markus brought innovation, fun and a little chaos into every corner of his home.
Markus loved boating, the peaceful rhythm of the water and the companionship of his beloved dogs. He cherished time outdoors, where he found both adventure & calm. His sense of humor, quick wit and easygoing nature, made him the kind of person everyone enjoyed being around.
For over 30 years, he was a dedicated employee at Verizon and for 10 years driving precious cargo to/from school. Respected by colleagues & loved by friends, he was known for his hard work, helpfulness & upbeat attitude. He left an impression not just with his knowledge & dedication but with his heart.
Markus' legacy is one of love, generosity, curiosity & laughter. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will be felt for years to come in the lives he touched and saved through his final gift.
Keeping with the Switzerland customs, there will only be a mass at
St. Joseph's RC Church Kings Park on Thursday, July 10th at 10:00am.
Markus is also survived by his sister Renate Gruter Wehrli and brother-in-law Markus and adoring nieces & nephews.
