Marla Sue Brewbaker

Marla Sue Brubaker,76, of Drasco, AR, left this life to be with her Lord and Savior on May 20, 2024. Marla was born in Ames, IA on December 17, 1947, and graduated from South Hamilton High School. She was raised in Ellsworth, IA, along with her siblings.
Abigail (Brubaker) (Clark) Harris of Overland Park, KS ; Micah T Brubaker of Boise, ID; Jonathan M (Dianna) Brubaker Jr. of Tucson, AZ; Balfour A Wong of New Orleans, LA, and Evelyn A Brubaker of Denver, CO, and her dog Springer, who followed her around endlessly. Marla is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dennis L Brubaker; sons Daniel L (Tammy) Brubaker of Siloam Springs AR; Jonathan M (Angelica) Brubaker of Tucson AZ; and Brother Marvin E (Barbara "Bebe" Geis) Brown of Davenport, IA; as well as her uncle Richard Whitaker of Reno, NV; Marla also leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Dathan L (Jamie) Brubaker of Paola, KS; Abigail (Brubaker) (Clark) Harris of Overland Park, KS ; Micah T Brubaker of Boise, ID; Jonathan M (Dianna) Brubaker Jr of Tucson, AZ; Balfour A Wong of New Orleans, LA, and Evelyn A Brubaker of Denver, CO, and her dog Springer, who followed her around endlessly.
Over the years, Marla was an entrepreneur, a professional caregiver, and crafting genius. As an accomplished genealogist, she helped develop several genealogy websites, her main focus was on THE CLAIBORNE COUNTY PIONEER PROJECT where lineages of over 10k pioneer cousins in and around Tazewell, TN were identified. In November 2019, Marla was instrumental in bringing home her Uncle Channing Whitaker, a U.S. Marine, from Tarawa Atoll where he was killed in action in 1943. He is now buried in Glendale Cemetery, in Des Moines, IA, next to his parents. The use of Marla's DNA was the key to the identification process.
Marla was preceded in death by her parents; Marvin E (Adeline Whitaker) Brown of Higden AR; Sister Sophronia E (George) Aleman of Riverside, CA; and 9 uncles and 2 aunts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. May Marla rest in peace after living with type 1 Diabetes for most of her adult life.
