Marlene Allred Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Jan. 6, 2026.
Marlene Loveday Allred was born June 9, 1935, to Martin and Loveday Barnett. She passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026 surrounded by family who loved her deeply.

Marlene went to South High School and later attended nursing school. Caring for others came naturally to her, and she worked at St. Mark's Hospital, serving with patience and compassion. Later, while living in Portland, she worked as a teacher's aide, continuing her quiet devotion to helping those around her.

At the age of 18, Marlene met Dale, the love of her life. They were married on September 23, 1954, in Evanston, Wyoming. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and commitment. They raised two children, Steven and Debra. Marlene took great pride in being a devoted mother and later a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marlene was gentle and deeply caring. She had a way of making people feel at ease and valued. Family and friends will remember sitting with her, sharing stories, and being comforted by her presence. She listened with genuine interest and offered love in quiet, steady ways.

At the age of 45, Marlene was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was important to her and guided how she lived and served others.

She loved her animals and found joy in their companionship. Above all, she cherished her family. She was happiest at home, sitting in her chair with a Diet Mountain Dew nearby and a beloved cat or dog resting on her lap, enjoying the simple moments with those she loved.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, her son-in-law Victor Hansen, and other dear family members and friends. She is survived by her children, Steven (Diane) Allred and Debra (the late Victor) Hansen, her ten grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren, who will carry her love with them forever.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Manila Creek Fifth Ward Chapel, 3785 West Boxelder Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah. Marlene will be laid to rest with her sweetheart Monday, January 12, 2026 at 2:30 pm in the Memorial Estate Cemetery, West Jordan, Utah.
