Marlene Arave Baird, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on August 1, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. She was 90 years old.

Marlene was born on September 29, 1934, in Ogden, Utah, to Albert and Emma Arave. As the youngest of seven children, she grew up in a loving home where faith, hard work, and family were the foundation of life. Marlene graduated from Davis High School in 1952 and carried with her a lifelong love for learning, service, and creativity.

As a young woman, Marlene met the love of her life, Bobby Reed Baird. The two were married on July 9, 1954, and were later sealed together for eternity in the Ogden Utah Temple on July 9, 1975. They made their home in Roy, Utah, where they lived for over 60 years. There, they raised their family and built a life grounded in love, service, and community. It was in Roy that Marlene also met some of her dearest lifelong friends, whose love and friendship remained a blessing throughout her life.

Marlene was a valiant and devoted servant of her Savior, Jesus Christ. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including Relief Society President, Young Women President, and Primary President. She had a deep love for temple service and found joy in family history and genealogy work. Her quiet dedication and willingness to serve others touched many lives.

Marlene enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests. She especially loved camping, as well as bowling, golfing, boating, playing cards and board games, and working on puzzles. She was known for her delicious homemade candy and had a remarkable talent for sewing and quilting. One of her greatest passions was China painting—a creative outlet through which she expressed her deep love for others. She hand-painted beautiful plates, clocks, piggy banks, dolls, lamps, and jewelry boxes, lovingly gifting these works of art to her family and friends. Many of these treasured pieces have been passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as lasting reminders of her creativity and love.

Marlene was also a world traveler who embraced the beauty of new places and experiences. But no matter where she went, her heart was always with her family. Her greatest joy came from nurturing relationships—she was a source of unconditional love, constant encouragement, and quiet strength. Her example of grace, kindness, and devotion will continue to bless the lives of all who knew her.

Marlene was the mother of five children; Lori Florence, Ty Baird (Dawn), Lisa Grossman (Steve), and Beckee Partin. She was a devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby, all of her siblings, and her firstborn baby daughter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
