Marlene Bowman

1937 - 2025

Marlene (Lykken) Bowman died peacefully surrounded by family on December 18, 2025. She was born in Rapid City, SD and apart from a few years in Tecumseh MI, she grew up in SD where she graduated from Rapid City High School and attended Black Hills Teachers College. She first taught in a one-room rural school in Elm Springs, SD. While in Elm Springs, she met her future husband, Conrad Bowman. Conrad preceded her in death after 58 years of marriage. Preceding her in death are her parents, Salmer & Fay Lykken, sister, Janet Solano, and brothers David, Nicholas, and Gary Lykken. Surviving Marlene are her children, Peggy Bowman, Donald Bowman (Robin), Kenneth Bowman (Judy) and Joanne Major, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and brother Douglas Lykken (Jana). Marlene enjoyed photography, playing games, reading, and baking cookies. In later years she enjoyed her Rain Garden and backyard swing. While living in Indiana she was active in Tri Kappa and Griffith Welcome Wagon. For 14 years she volunteered with Season's of Life Hospice, in Ohio.

Marlene's greatest joy was her family.
