Marlene Brawthen passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023. Funeral Services for Marlene will be held on Saturday March 25, 2023 at 11:00am at Staples United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather one prior to the start of the service at the church. Burial will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples.

 Marlene was born on September 8, 1938 in Browerville, MN and she grew up on the family farm in Moran Township. She attended country school and graduated from Staples High School.

On December 7, 1963 Marlene was united in marriage to Joseph S. Brawthen in Minneapolis, MN. They resided in Minneapolis before moving to Longmont, Colorado. Marlene and Joe resided in Colorado for many years before moving back to Minnesota in 1982.

Marlene greatly enjoyed the country life where she could plant flowers, view wildlife, and enjoy peaceful family time. She was very fond of the family homestead that she grew up on. Marlene will always be remembered as an amazingly charitable, loving person. Here fondness of her grandchildren was second to none, they were her pride and joy.

Marlene loved the outdoors and loved to read about the natural world and all of it’s wonders. She loved horses, travel, and visiting remote places, especially in the mountains.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Anthony, John, Leo, Roland, and Mark.

She is survived by; sons Tim (Jen) Brawthen of St. Cloud and Steve (Jodie) Brawthen of Oak Grove; six grandchildren, Sarah (Jesson) Preston, Amanda, Luke, Jake, Taryn, and Maya; her brothers Greg, Steve, Romaine, and Duane, and sisters Joan, Eunice, Inez, Tracy, and Rita, along with other relatives and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff and hospice team at the Staples Care Center for the kind and compassionate care that was given to Marlene.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
