Marlene R. Buchta, 88 of Johnson Creek, WI, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at The View in Johnson Creek.
Marlene was born on December 4, 1936, in Fort Atkinson, WI, the daughter of Ferdinand and Alma (Zahn) Haubenschild. She graduated from Jefferson High School in the early 1950's and earned a bachelor's degree from UW-Whitewater. She was employed by Jefferson County Social Services and enjoyed her time there. Marlene had a variety of interests. She had a passion for travel, not only throughout the United States, but has traveled extensively in Europe. A lifelong and very avid reader, Marlene was a subscriber to 4 newspapers at one time and continued to read – even as her health failed. Lastly, Marlene loved her cats deeply and cared for them carefully for many years. Marlene was a kind, responsible, and honest Christian lady, who served her family well. She will be dearly missed, not only by her family locally, but by her daughter-in-law's family in Brazil.
She is survived by: her son Paul (Lucy) Buchta of Johnson Creek; grandsons Dennis and Carlos Buchta; and her cousin Judy Levy of Nekoosa.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents and other family members.
The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff of both The View and Rainbow Community Care. Paul remarks: "I had heard of the excellent level of care but am so thankful that my expectations were not only met, but exceeded. Thank you."
A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Union Cemetery in Jefferson with Rev. Peter Kesting of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church presiding.
