Marlene Carlson Obituary
Marlene Carlson, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023 in Carol Stream, IL. She was born in Omaha, NE to Leon and Wanda Kuffel on December 1, 1935. Marlene spent many years as a stay-at-home mom until she went to work at Sacred Heart Church and School in Boise, ID.
Marlene and James (Spike) Carlson, Sr, her husband of 47 years, raised their family in Boise, ID. Together, Marlene and James enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. A cherished, family memory is their single, nightly beer with dinner saluting the Polish cheer, "Nazdrowie" (Na_zdroh_vee_eh).
She is preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; and her stepson, James Carlson, Jr. Marlene is survived by her brother, Val Kuffel; her son, Tony (Carrie); her stepchildren, Karen Chezem (Dave), Mike Carlson (Bonnie), and Lorraine Wood (Dave); and many grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 811 S. Latah St., Boise, ID. Marlene will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Church.

Loving thoughts are with the Kuffel and Carlson Families as they remember Marlene. We were neighbors at Mtn. Home AF Base, and maintained our friendship after Bud and Spike retired from the AF and moved to Boise. Many fond memories were generated during those forty odd years. We were neighbors at Mtn. Home and will continue to be "neighbors" at the Idaho Veteran's Cemetery where the Carlsons and the Boones have niches just around the corner from each other. Marlene's loving, generous spirit was remarkable and continues in her children. Rest in peace. Rise in glory. You are missed, but solid memories sustain those left behind. Bette Boone

Marlene will certainly be missed. I spent many hours with her and Jim. Sorry I will be unable to attend the services in person but pray they are well attended to acknowledge the love of many in the Bishop Kelly and Sacred Heart family.
