Marlene B. "Marcy" Cochran

Mass of Christian Burial for Marlene "Marcy" B. Cochran, 63, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will be held following the service in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour before the time of service at the church. Marcy passed away peacefully with her family by her side and the Christmas lights glowing on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Marlene "Marcy" Beth (Austin) Cochran was born September 3, 1962, in Fairmont, MN, the daughter of Marland and Florence 'Flossie" (Stinar) Austin. Marcy grew up on a farm near Fairmont and enjoyed riding horses, shooting guns with her brothers, snowmobiling, and baton twirling, farm chores, and playing with her siblings. She attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1981. While in high school, Marcy was active in FFA and band and worked at Madsen's grocery store. It was here she met Greg Cochran, and a budding romance was kindled!
Following her graduation, Marcy attended Jackson VoTech, where she earned a degree in legal secretary studies. Following the completion of her degree, she was offered an internship in Washington, D.C, but chose to follow her heart and stay in Minnesota with Greg.
On July 20, 1985, Marcy was united in marriage to Greg Cochran at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, MN, and celebrated their 40th anniversary this summer. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with two children, Garrett and Katie.
Marcy worked for 29 years at Aerospace Systems in Fairmont and later as a property manager for Krueger Realty. In her spare time, she could be found at home snuggled up with one of her four-legged friends with some chocolate, watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Judge Judy". She loved the summer months and spending time in the sun on the deck listening to music. In later years, Marcy found great joy on the back of the motorcycle, cruising the open road with Greg. She looked forward to the family's annual trip to Okoboji and cherished the memories and laughs made with family and friends. Marcy was always up for a trip to an area winery and her competitive spirit on the golf course shined. She was incredibly selfless and always putting others first. Marcy loved and embraced life, but enjoyed the simple things in life, too. She enjoyed planting flowers and gazing out the back window, where she often noticed Greg adding new ones each day and would make a comment, "Another one ?? stop!" Marcy loved to cut a rug on the dance floor, even if it meant her husband had two left feet. They both cherish these times.
Marcy was kind and patient, guiding the family as she was the family's glue. She loved her children, Katie and Garrett, dearly, even when they were mischievous. Family was essential to Marcy, as family gatherings were times to speak with loved ones, share food, and laugh. She showed Greg the side of a large family that always welcomed him with open arms. Once, she and the Austins even trusted a city boy on the back of a horse. Traditions were held close to her heart, such as Christmas and sharing where each ornament meant to her and who it came from. The Cochran home was also open to friends and family, as she was known as second Mom to Katie and Garrett's friends, and then as Grandma Marcy with their little ones.
Over the last few years, her health changed, and so did our lives, but we always made adjustments, bonded together as a family, and did the best we could with what we had. We will forever cherish these memories. So, Marcy, life was good with you, and I will be waiting until we meet again because "I'm truly in love with you, girl. "
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Greg Cochran; children, Katie Cochran and partner Ben Adams, and Garrett Cochran; and the title "Grandma Marcy" to many of Katie's and Garrett's friends' children. Marcy will also be remembered by her siblings, Sherry (Michael) Sullivan, Gene (Laurie) Austin, MaryJo (David) Abel, Barb (Greg) Smith, Mark Austin (partner, Donna), and Mike (Barb) Austin; brother-in-law, David Mau; sister-in-law, Debbie (David) Lutz; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, Marland and Flossie Austin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Patricia Cochran; brother-in-law, Gary Cochran; sister, Gayle Mau; brother, Wayne Austin; and a niece, Lisa Mau; as well as several other family members.
The Cochran's would like to thank all those who loved and cared for her, including family, friends, the Mayo flight and ambulance crew, Mayo ER in Fairmont, Mayo RT, Mankato Hospital and ICU, St. James Hospital, and St. Croix Hospice.
