1933 - 2025
Uncasville - Marlene Joyce Cormier, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in New London, Connecticut on March 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt and Vera (Bogue) Sizer. She was the devoted wife of Douglas Marvin Joseph Cormier. They were married at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich on July 7, 1951 and were married for almost 65 years until his passing in 2016.
Marlene loved her family and treasured spending time with them especially when it was with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could always count on her love and support when you needed it. She loved poker and could be very competitive at times. And we can't forget to mention her love of the Boston Red Sox. She was a true and loyal fan.
She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Scott Anthony Cormier,; eight grandchildren, Gregory Mark Cormier, Jennifer Lynn LaRose, Harlan Kingsley Hyde, Jr., Brandon Douglas Hyde, Shelby Lynn Hyde, Bradford James Hyde, Kyle James Cormier, and Brett Thomas Cormier; twelve great grandchildren, Brayden Robert LaRose, Gavin Mark LaRose, Ava Carleen LaRose, Tyler Gregory Cormier, Haley Rene Geyer, Harlan Kingsley Hyde, III, Ashlyn Elisabeth Lorraine Hyde, Devon William Hyde, Mavrik Gunnar Cormier, Miller James Cormier, Ellona Cormier and Samantha Cormier; two sisters, Dorothy Briggs and Helene Harbarge; daughter-in-law Denise Lynn, son-in-law, Harlan Hyde, Sr.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predecease by her daughter Joyce Ann Hyde; and sons Mark Douglas Cormier and James Brett Cormier.
A Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 10:00 am at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 27 Plains Road, Windham Center. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
