Marlene G. Davies

Marlene G. Davies, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 27, 2026. She was born in Akron, Ohio on Aug. 4, 1942, and graduated from Garfield High School in 1960. She was involved in an after-school program called Youth for Christ. There she met George Davies whom she married Nov. 24, 1962, at The Chapel on Fir Hill. They were married 63 years.

As a member of The Chapel, Marlene volunteered for 50 years as a Sunday School teacher alongside her good friend Betty Alcorn teaching 18-24 month olds. Marlene also babysat children in her home while raising her own family. She was a loyal fan of the Cleveland (Indians) Guardians. She enjoyed leading Bible studies, baking, reading, and above all, being with her family.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Dencil and Edith Batton. She is survived by her husband, George Davies and her children, Brenda (Tom) Koosed, Eric (Tammy) Davies, and Denice (Clark) Cain; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy (Frank) Chenoweth and Phyllis Tsoufiou.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, April 6, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The memorial service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home.
