EUNICE~ The family of Marlene Frey Devillier announces her passing on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Ochsner American Legion Hospital in Jennings. She was 89. Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, November 23, 2024, beginning at 9:00 am with a Rosary led by Deacon Gary Gaudin at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Hampton Davis, Celebrant.
Marlene, born on December 10, 1934, to the late Gus and Clarice Frey, lived a life of passion and creativity. She was a graduate of St. Edmund Catholic High School, where the foundations of her religious life and education were laid. Marlene made significant contributions in her professional life, serving as administrative assistant at LSUE in the counselor’s office. Following her education at T.H. Harris Vocational School she worked in administration in the corporate headquarters of the New Orleans Public Service in purchasing. After returning to Eunice, she worked in numerous fields, including legal secretary for Mr. Wesley Clanton where she specialized in oil and gas mineral rights. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marlene's true joy came from the time spent with her beloved sons. She enjoyed cooking for her family, fishing, and enjoyed watching all types of sports ranging from gymnastics to football. She also enjoyed reading and politics. Her creative hobbies were music and painting. Her paintings reflected her appreciation for life and beauty.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her three sons, Russell John Devillier of Lafayette, Byron Paul Devillier of Baton Rouge, and Jules August Devillier of Houston , TX; her cousins, Bonnie Ardoin of Eunice and Laura Lincoln of Hot Springs, AR; her brother-in-law, Bill Logan of Moss Bluff; her Frey family of Mowata and her many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Devillier, her parents, and her sisters, Marie Frey Logan and Barbara Frey Atkins.
