Marlene J. Landaal, age 93, peacefully departed this life at home with her family by her side on December 28, 2024.

Marlene was born on November 23, 1931 in Randolph, the daughter of Henry and Dora Jesse Dykstra. Marlene’s journey began in Waupun where she was a proud graduate of Waupun High School. On April 3, 1951, she married the love of her life, David C. Landaal at First Reformed Church in Waupun. The couple shared their lives in Waupun for many years, raising a family and becoming integral members of their community.

Marlene dedicated 30 years as a school bus driver, where her unwavering commitment and kindness left a lasting impression on countless children and families. Beyond her career, she embraced her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming environment for her loved ones. Her warmth extended beyond her household; Marlene was an active member of the First Reformed Church, where she immersed herself in church activities and loved helping whenever she could.

Her interests were wide-ranging and enriched her life. She enjoyed playing Bridge for 70 years, sharing laughter and connections with friends. Her life was marked by a profound love for family, which was evident in her pride and joy in her children and grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her four children: Christine (Harvey) Pluim, Jane Zoschke (Allen Peachey), Amy Klug-Landaal, and David H. Landaal. She was a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren: Rachael (Mike) Bergmann, Renee Pluim, Dan (Monica) Zoschke, Crystal (Jason) Goddard, and Sam (Jacy) Klug. Her legacy of love continues with her nine great-grandchildren: Collette, Katie, Gavin, Kynlee, Marcus, Gage, Dustin, Cayden, and Keeva, and one great-great-grandchild.

Marlene is also survived by her niece, Carmen Dykstra; sister-in-law, Donna Dykstra; and sisters-in-law, Verda Landaal Berkers and Barbara Vanburen Landaal; along with many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, David C. Landaal; her brother, Franklyn Dykstra; her brothers-in-law: Charles "Buzz" Landaal and Wilma Jean Drum Dill; and nephew, Kurt Landaal.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Pastor Barry Lang officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

A special thanks to SSM hospice, Denise, and all the CNAs that gave mom their loving care.
