Marlene Clara (Hintz) Long passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on July 14, 1935, to Orville and Stella (Murphy) Hintz.
For 27 years, she worked as a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. On September 29, 1989, she married Lyle Long. After retiring, the couple moved to Bowler, where they enjoyed the quiet of country life. She returned to the Fox Valley in 2018.
She found joy in gardening, proudly showing off her flower beds to anyone who visited, and crafting gifts like knitted slippers, mittens, and scarves. She also took up needlepoint, creating treasured pieces for family and friends, including Christmas stockings. She was an avid baker, known for making pies, cookies, and bread for every occasion.
A fan of country music, she would fondly recall the years she went to Hodag with her sisters. She and Lyle liked to travel, exploring wherever the road took them. In recent years, she became a diehard Milwaukee Brewers fan, never missing a game.
She was well known for her vast memory, quick wit and sense of humor. She loved reminiscing about the old times and sharing stories and advice with younger generations.
Above all, she valued her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and most recently great-great grandmother, building a large and loving family. She was "Grandma" to many, whether by blood or by bond.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle, and his family; her children: Tom (Colleen) Farrell, Sue (Jeff) Tesch, Kim Senecal, Joe Farrell, and Jim (Donna) Farrell; her grandchildren: Shelly Farrell, Tim Farrell, Terri (Brian) Wilharms, Patti Farrell (Tony Ellenbecker), Curt Burow, Brian (Angi) Burow, Eric (Kelly) Burow, Jessica (Don) Bolton, Nick (Andrea) Senecal, Sarah Lemire (Justin Posik), Justin (Jeanette) Farrell, Katie Farrell, David Farrell (Lydia Lang), and Alex Farrell, great-grandchildren: Damian Farrell, Thomas Wilharms (Kara Zastrow), Adrienne Wilharms, Stoughten Burkheimer, Bravin Burow, Azeria Burow, Ava (Simeon) Perkins, Thomas Burow, Lainey Burow, Ryan Senecal (Jasmin Zinecker), Morgan Senecal, Isaiah Farrell, Layla Farrell, Karli Farrell, Violet Farrell, and Ivy Farrell, and great-great-grandchildren; Sawyer Farrell, Izaiah Perkins Bonus Grandchildren: Brock and Brady Strassburg, Ozzy, Bella, and Benz; her sisters: Patty Poleshinski, Becky (Mike) Mader, and Teena (Garry) Lutz; her brother, Butch (Alice) Hintz; her brother-in-law, Jim Maahs; special cousin "Cuz" Jerry Olm, her best friend, Kay Vetter; the Dietzen family, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husbands Gene Farrell and John "Hans" Dietzen; sisters, Karen Hintz, Bonnie Delie, Nancy Maahs; brothers-in-law, Jim Delie and Ron Poleshinski; son, Jon Farrell; and son-in-law, Rick Senecal, along with many other relatives and friends.
At her request, there will be no formal services. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
