Marlene Davis Melchior

Marlene Davis Melchior, 78, of Fredericksburg, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center. Born on September 16, 1946 in Pearson, GA to the late Rubin and Beadie Davis, she was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Marlene enjoyed quilting and volunteered those skills to service organizations that work with young girls in need. She loved a good book, tending to her plants, and spending time with family. She had a personality that radiated warmth and kindness and was welcoming to all. Marlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, White Oak Ward, and she loved her ward family.

Survivors include her daughter, Loralea Liggett (Dan); son, Tyler Melchior (Lance Kniskern); grandchildren, Haylea Liggett, Mackenzie Friel (Jacob), Collin Liggett (Katie), and Davis Liggett (Makaila); great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexander, Tanner, Cooper, and Colton (due in September); and brother, Jerry Davis (Cathy) of Axson, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Melchior; son, Chris Melchior; sisters, Elmarie Lott (Bugg), Urethra Davis, and Peggy Browning (Tommy); and brother, Rubin Davis III.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
