Marlene Otto was born on January 30, 1936, to Harry and Arlene (Lichtenberg) Otto. She passed away on August 3, 2025, at the age of 89.

Marlene grew up on a farm, north of Galva, Iowa and graduated from Galva High School in 1954. After graduation she attended business school in Sioux City, Iowa.

Marlene started her career in Sioux City, where she worked for the Carpenter Paper Company for 10 years. In 1967, she started working for Aetna Casualty and Surety Insurance Company. She continued working there until her retirement in April of 1998. Her career with Aetna took her from Sioux City to Omaha and then Des Moines, Iowa in 1984.

Marlene was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Parvin (Paul) Veatch; two grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Stoecker and Brock Veatch; one niece and three nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Marvin Hunt and a brother, Dale Otto.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3223 University Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50311, followed by the funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church. Online condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.com.
