Marlene Rose Price, a longtime resident of Bruce Township for over 25 years, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2025, at the age of 85, after a long illness.
She was born on July 10, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, to her parents, Matthew Joseph and Marie Theresa (née Korth) Nitzh. Marlene was raised in Utica and graduated from Utica High School.
Life was not always easy for Marlene, but she faced every challenge with strength and determination. She devoted herself to raising her children, whom she lovingly cared for and supported, often on her own. To provide for her family, she learned how to sew-a skill that later led to a fulfilling career as a seamstress for Ford Motor Company, where she worked for many years until her retirement.
Marlene was resourceful and hardworking, doing whatever she could to make things work for her children. She sewed their clothing, tended to both flower and vegetable gardens-spanning an entire acre-and canned pickled foods and made homemade jellies. In addition to her sewing talents, Marlene was gifted in many crafts. She created beautiful ceramics, had her own kiln, and even sold her creations. She also enjoyed flower arranging and found peace and joy in the outdoors, especially when fishing.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted Catholic, Marlene prayed the Rosary daily and never hesitated to pray for others who were ill or facing hardships. Her kind heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of many.
Marlene is survived by her children, Shannon Della Rose Phillips, Carmellita Teressa Nucci, and Jack Monroe (Christina) Burden; her grandchildren, Holly Raven Cross-Price, Jason (Marie) Nucci, Jennifer Lynn Marie Nucci, Samantha Rae (Christopher) Walter, and Travis Prescott; her great-grandchildren, Kendall Phillips, Karley Phillips, Ryker Nucci, Kyilee Reese Cheeney, Lilly Walter, Nathan Walter, and Colton Walter; and her siblings, Bernadette and Gerald.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Price; her children, Ronald Paul Burden, Marlene Rose Burden, and Raymond John Price; her granddaughter, Christine Marie Phillips; and her siblings, Mitch, Anna, John, and Christopher.
Visitation for Marlene will be held from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Gramer Funeral Home, Diener Chapel, 48271 Van Dyke Avenue, Shelby Township, Michigan 48317.
