Marlene "Marty" Thacker

ROUGEMONT: Helen Marlene "Marty" Warren Thacker, 84, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Hock Family Pavilion. She was born in Davidson County to the late Luther Warren and Ether Warren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Warren and Jim (Moe) Warren.

Marty and Millard were married in 1963 at the Rougemont United Methodist Church in Rougemont. Marty was an avid reader and loved to travel, especially with Anne and Linward Hedgspeth. She was a Registered Nurse graduating from the Watts School of Nursing Class of 1960. She was a member of the Rougemont Ruritan Club, was the first female member of the club and served several two terms as the club President, Vice President and Secretary. She later served as 2002 Ruritan National First Lady during the term that Millard served as the 2002 Ruritan National President. Also, she was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Mrs. Thacker is survived by her devoted husband, Millard Thacker; God-children, Guy Brooks, Gregory Brooks, Geoffrey Brooks (Michele), Gela Brooks Beck (Kyle); niece Terri King (Danny); brother-in-law John Edward "Butch" Thacker (Becky); and special friends Anne and Linward Hedgspeth.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on March 21, 2026, at Clements Funeral Chapel located at 1105 Broad Street, Durham, N.C., officiated by Rev. Brad Wesley. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 12:00 noon followed by a Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marlene W. Thacker to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231, or the Animal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
